The app serves as a digital extension of Chai Archives — a space where users can explore creative work, discover local artists, studios, and events, and build meaningful connections around shared interests. The onboarding experience introduces the platform’s ethos through minimal typography, muted imagery, and a tactile interface, setting a calm and curated tone from the first interaction.
My design approach focused on:
Clarity over clutter — reducing cognitive load through simple layouts and restrained UI elements
Editorial hierarchy — using typography and spacing to guide users naturally through content
Emotional atmosphere — leveraging soft contrasts and neutral imagery to reflect the brand’s reflective, creative identity
This concept explores how social platforms can feel more like a cultural archive than a feed — prioritizing discovery, presence, and community over constant engagement.
